Research: Evaluation of Lip Sync Tutorial

We followed Carol Vernallis's theory of music videos to an extent. As we decided to do a stylized music video that was simplistic, we did not follow adding obvious edits such as special effects as that would not fit into our theme. However, we did use master shots/basetracks which were frquently used to give the video a structure. We also used, broke the rules of continuity editting like Vernallis' suggested music videos often did.

We challenged her theory as we did not move the camera in time with the music as she suggested. This would also go against our simplistic theme that we had so we often kept the camera still but made the edits really fast instead to keep the audience interested.

However, we followed all of the other conventions such as the artists making eye contact with the camera, repeated shots of the performer, editing in time with the beat of the song and using base tracks.
