Research: Costume, settings and props

When researching about the conventions of various music genres music videos, we realised that there is almost always a similarity in the types of clothes worn, the locations and activities within the music video as well as, the props used. For example, if you were to look at the R&B genre, there would be a lot of girls in skimpy  outfits and men with expensive designer watches and clothes on, whilst at a club scene or a house party where alchohol would be served either in its original bottle or in red cups (the props) . As a group we decided to research the genre connected to our prelim video, which was alternative pop and found  that there isnt much convention in any of the three aspects previously mentioned when it comes to this genre, as the only stigma would be that it is always creative and freeflowing as the performance doesn't have a structure or guarranteed storyline. so we chose to come up with our own way of presenting the song and kept it simple with, props, setting, location and costume.

Costume:
It was collectively decided that we would keep the costumes casual. We looked at clothes online from these sights as we believed that this would suit the performer:

Settings: We have decided that the setting will be mainly outside in our location 'Wanstead Flats'. We will also have a location inside a house as well.

Props: In our music video we will be using a guitar as a prop. This will be convincing as our performer can actually play the guitar.

Pictures of props and settings can be found in the above slideshow.
