Planning: Analysis of original video

The original music video:

Storyboard of Alt J music video

below is the storyboard shot-by-shot of the music video.  I will explain below how ours will differ.

Our music video differs completely to the original Alt J music video for various reasons.

1. Alt J's original video did not have any lip syncing or performance and was strictly on narrative throughout the whole video. Our music video, however, is completely different as ours will be 50/50 or more of storyline and performance/narrative and lip syncing,

2. The whole video was in reverse for the Alt J video. Our video will not be in reverse and at no point in our video have we planned to use any reverse effect.

3. The actual storyline itself is different. In the Alt J music video, the man finds his (what I'm assuming to be girlfriend/sister/someone close to him) tied up by an intruder in his house. The rest of the video consists of the man physically fighting with the intruder in reverse order and freeing the victim. However, our storyline is that there is a man who is arguably a little unstable and him and his girlfriend have been arguing a lot and have encountered a lot of inconvenient domestic situations. This then leads him to murder her and the rest of the storyline follows how he deals with him murdering her and the aftermath of this.

4. The Alt J music video is shot in one location and that is in a house. Because of this, the lighting is quite dim and there is only one location. Most of our music video will be shot outside with bright lighting, however there will be different locations unlike the Alt J video.

5. The Alt J video costume was quite normal and average. However our costume for our music video is much more bright, patterned and out there.
